Why build a garden pond?
What are the benefits? What is the down side?

The garden pond is the focal point of your landscape and provides endless hours of relaxation and enjoyment. There is no downside. Ponds take less maintenance than grass and certainly less than flower beds. - Perhaps if you need to ask, you really don't want a pond.
